Make beautiful wrapping paper and cards with this fun craft. Be sure to cover your work surface with paper, and wear old clothes and an apron!
You need:
Aluminum pan (like a pie plate)
Heavy white paper (butcher paper or card stock)
Shaving cream
Acrylic craft paint or liquid calligraphy ink (2 or 3 colors that look good together, like blue and green or purple and pink)
Small wooden craft stick
Large wooden craft stick or paint stirring stick
You do:
Line your work surface with several layers of newspaper or butcher paper.
Spray shaving cream into an aluminum pan.
Squirt swirls of paint or ink on the shaving cream.
Use a small wooden craft stick to gently swirl the paint. (Do not stir, just swirl 3 or 4 places into small peaks.)
Lay the paper onto the shaving cream and press down. Lift, move the paper to another spot, then press down into the shaving cream again, until the whole paper is covered with the swirly-colored shaving cream.
Lay the paper on your work surface, cream side up. Hold one end down tight. “Shave” the paper with a large wooden craft stick or paint stirrer. As you drag the shaving cream off the paper, colorful swirls will appear.
Let the paper dry, then use it to make cards or wrap gifts.
