Assemble these fun and unique open-faced sandwiches in a large casserole dish or aluminum disposable pan spritzed with baking spray. Pour the sauce over the sandwiches and bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until the sandwiches are golden brown.
Whisk together the sauce.
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups of heavy cream
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese split into 1/2 cup for sauce and 1/2 cup for topping right before baking
1/3 cup of shredded mozzarella or Italian blend cheese
2 tablespoons mayo
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon Lawry’s seasoned salt or Mrs. Dash
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
Shake of salt, grind of pepper
In a skillet, melt butter. Over medium-low heat, whisk together the melted butter and cream, whisking until sauce is near boiling. Turn off the heat but leave on the burner. Add the cheeses, mayo, and spices, whisking constantly until cheese is melted. This makes enough for two 9 x 13 casserole dishes or one large aluminum baking/party size pan of minis.
Layer the sandwiches.
1st Layer: Bread base: Cut Texas toast bread in quarters or Hawaiian rolls sliced open.
2nd Layer: Kentucky Legend sliced turkey breast or sliced fresh baked turkey, generous layers on each piece of bread
3rd Layer: 1 slices of pre-cooked bacon broken in half and layered on top of turkey
4th Layer: thin slice of Roma tomato
5th Layer: Pour the sauce over the sandwiches, then sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese on top and bake.
